Hear to Lead was founded to provide children from underserved communities with mental health support. By adapting the globally recognized model of peer support groups to the local context of Delhi, India, Hear to Lead hopes to contribute to the expanding landscape of community-based mental health initiatives in India. To do so, the project takes a multipronged approach, combining literature, workshops, and a pledge network to create a sustainable platform for young people.
Key elements of the project include The Hear to Learn Handbook, an original five-part resource introducing the fundamental concepts of peer support groups. The handbook is designed to guide the creation of support groups, and provide advice on implementation, outreach, session plans, and other considerations. Another element is The Adventures of A³, a series of illustrated children’s books that follow the lives of three friends, Aman, Aliya, and Aarav as they navigate everyday struggles. Next, the Hear to Share Sessions will be conducted by licensed therapists and mental health professionals, to address the different aspects of children's wellbeing. The project also includes a comprehensive pledge network of organisations working in health, education, and child welfare, who are committed to supporting Hear to Lead’s efforts to support children’s wellbeing. Finally, the Hear to Hope Fundraiser will allow for the collection of funds, which will later be shared with Prajna Foundation to support their ongoing work with children.
